NEW YORK CITY ITEMS, PART ONE. The NY IZ 4 FREEKS items and the I TAG NY tees and such. (To “tag” is to leave a quick bit of spraypaint graffiti.) I TAG NY items are for graffiti fans or (when used sarcastically) for those who hate graffiti. An original photo shows a well-known and well-tagged elevated freight-rail bridge near the border of the Chelsea and SoHo neighborhoods. The I TAG NY items in the “second pattern” –the original photo this time shows a well-tagged doorway in lower Manhattan along Broadway St. (To “tag” is to leave a quick bit of spraypaint graffiti.) I TAG NY items are for graffiti fans or (when used sarcastically) for those who hate graffiti. Also available: NY IS SURREAL items picturing an original photo of a strange assortment of toys and objects wired to anti-pet netting and a “curb your dog” sign hung over a sidewalk tree’s roots. JESUS SAVES NEW YORK CITY items show an original photo of a well-placed “Jesus saves” graffiti tag on a NYC utility box stamped “New York City” –the combination creating a potentially-humorous new meaning. I WAS BEWILDERED IN TIMES SQUARE items show an original photo of multiple newscrawls and a swirl of other fragmentary lit messages reflected in a shop window with a view of lit bistro menu panels –the whole capturing the sensory overload so common in Times Square. REMEMBER GROUND ZERO’S HEROES items show a respectful original photo of the now-dismantled Rescuers’ Cross in WTC Ground Zero where the World Trade Center towers stood until 9-11-2001. The photo is one of the few such images without the ever-present security fencing. It is also one of the only September Eleventh remembrance items without tacky eagles and flag-bunting decoration –just blocks of pure orange and blue color for understated New York pride.
